This fine drawing dates for the mid-1990s when Weschke was roughly 70 years old. As a quiet – almost serene – portrait of the female form, which was such an important element of Weschke’s work, it is perfectly integral. The assured yet modest pose of the subject is beguiling, and the lines are imbued with a remarkable sureness of touch and sensibility.
