c.1955, Karl Weschke
Edition Number: N/A
Unsigned, but sold directly for one of the Weschke family members.
Framed in a reconditioned black painted wooden frame. The drawing has had a light clean to remove some of the acid discolouration from the paper and surface marks removed. The paper still has a little discolouration in keeping with its age. A tear has been repaired in the upper left area of the paper.
Mounted in conservation standard board.
This superb charcoal drawing is an excellent example of Weschke’s early figure studies, in which he used thick and angular lines to capture the substance of his model. This extremely rare drawing is from the same period and reminiscent of Weschke’s oil painting Seated Figure, sold by Christie’s in 2012 and again by Jonathan Clark Fine Art in 2016.
