Agnes Miller Parker (1895 - 1980)
Agnes Miller Parker (1895–1980) was a Scottish artist known best for her wood engravings and illustrations. She also painted in oil and tempera. She wsa born in Ayrshire, but spent most of her career in London and other parts of southern England.
Miller Parker’s reputation as a noted twentieth century wood engraver is in part thanks to her collaboration with H. E. Bates, which resulted in two wood engraved books: Through the Woods (1936) and Down the River (1937), both published by Victor Gollancz.
The National Galleries of Scotland hold a number of Miller Parker’s wood engravings.
