Perfect for historians of chocolate, this image includes a Van Houten warehouse – the Dutch family who (in 1822) refined the processing of cocoa beans leading to the nineteenth-century mass production and consumption of chocolate. By 1850 the Van Houten Company was exporting chocolate to England France and Germany – although it is unclear if this is a Bristol or London river scene.
