Cornish Peasant
Price includes UK shipping.
1932, Sven Berlin
Edition Number: N/A
Titled, initialled and dated in pencil by the artist.
Supplied mounted on conservation quality mount-board and framed.
A simple pencil drawing of a figure working on the land. Sven writes in his (controversial) autobiography: “I was close to the Cornish. I had worked with them on the fields. Trenching a five – or six-acre field by hand with a Cornish spade for sowing potatoes, and leaving it like a billiard table at the end of the day, needed skill and stamina and a love of work which few will remember. I loved work and I loved the men with whom I worked: for this they in return loved me.”
The drawing is in excellent condition. It is supplied in a modern light wooden frame in very good condition with a small area of repair on one side, that is barely visible.
