Beautifully detailed wood engraving by Leslie Charlotte Benenson (1941 – 2018) of this French breed of beef cattle. Stern farmers / bidders look on in this cattle market scene. The print is titled ‘Charolles Bull’ which is the area surrounded by Charolais, in Eastern France, which the breed is named after.
Leslie Benenson, R.E. was born in London and worked in a variety of different mediums, including sculpture, oils, watercolours, ceramics and calligraphy. She regularly exhibited work at the Royal Academy from 1962 onwards.
The print is in very good condition. The frame is a modern gold-coloured frame with some wear as part of the design and some age related wear. In very good condition though and ready to hang.
