Price includes UK shipping.

Date Unknown, Steven SpurrierĀ

Edition Number: n/a

One of the two drawings is signed.

A pair of charcoal drawings by Steven Spurrier (1878 – 1961). Cat licking its paw, the drawing on the left was exhibited at Louis Wain and the Summer Cat Show in 1999. Big Black Cat on the right, was exhibited in the same exhibition, and both these prints were sold by Chris Beetles gallery, and the labels are included on the back of the new frame.

Spurrier trained as a silversmith, but by 1900 he had retrained as an illustrator and worked for many magazines including The Graphic and The Radio Times. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1912 and became a full member in 1952.

The drawings are charcoal on tissue paper and have had conservation cleaning. They are in good condition, but show signs of their age. Both drawings are mounted in a single recondition frame, which has some light wear, but is in good condition and ready to hang.

Paper sizes:
Cat licking its paw: 200 x 120 mm
Big black cat: 195 x 130 mm
