1983, Guy Vaesen
Edition Number: 1/50
Signed, dated numbered and titled in pencil
Supplied mounted with conservation standard mount-board and framed.
Guy Vaesen (1912-2002) was born in London and his early life revolved around acting and the theatre. Interrupted by the 2nd World War, he was with the Tank Corps until 1946. Following this he returned to various behind-the-scenes theatre jobs. He moved to Bournemouth in the 1950s and became friends with Harold Pinter and Vincent Price having set up an acting company. He worked for the BBC including a role as head of drama for Radio 3. Through the 70’s and 80’s, Vaesen developed an artistic career and one of his oil paintings is in the V&A collection. However, it is for his screen prints for which he is best known.
This is a light and breezy screen print of this iconic building and location in Venice.
This print is in a very suitable reconditioned deep frame, which is consciously, a little shabby. Don’t think you could find a better match for this print though. 🙂
