Michael Mounsey (1905 - 1984)
Michael Mounsey was a wood engraver and photographer. Born in Sunderland in Durham, Mounsey studied English but his main interest was in the arts. He worked at Stowe School teaching Art and Art History from 1948 – 1965. He was a private man, brought up as a Quaker which influenced his work and private life. After retirement, he returned to a village near Appleby in Cumbria. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 20s and 30s.
