Ivan Horyna (1937–2009)

Ivan Horyna (1937 – 2009)
Academic painter and graphic designer from Martin. Studied under the Slovak artist Vincent Hloznik (1919–1997) at the School of Fine Arts in Bratislava, graduating in 1962. Horyna also painted in oils, but his strength was in graphic art. Over decades, he created cycles of graphics devoted to several themes. He lived and worked in Bratislava. I have several works by this artist, in woodcut, linocut and lithograph. Most date from the 1960’s. Some have disturbing subject matter. All are very stylish.
