Anthony Gross (1905–1984)
Anthony Gross CBE RA (1905 – 1984). Born in London and from 1923 studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, then later in Paris and Madrid. From 1928 – 34 he lived and worked in France before moving back to the UK with his family. During WWII he was an official war artist and traveled across the globe recording and documenting campaigns. After the war Gross had one man shows in London and New York and exhibited with The London Group and spent much time in France.
His work is widely collected and is in public collections across the world.
