Anthony Currell (1942 – 2022)
Anthony Currell (latterly referred to as Tony Currell) studied at Bideford School of Art 1957-60, Central St. Martin’s, London 1960-3 and Atelier 17, Paris 1963-4. He taught at Preston School of Art, Plymouth College of Art and Chesterfield College of Art. Currell was elected a Full Member of the Printmakers Council of Great Britain in 1976.
Currell is most well known for his ‘Miner’ images, and the V&A hold a drypoint ‘Memories of the Levant, No.1’ in their collection. His work is also in the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as galleries and museums in Europe.
