A forest maiden in woodland surrounded by animals … this is likely to be a scene from a Russian folk tale or legend. This wood engraving is beautifully detailed by Churakova. The label on the reverse of the paper (see photographs), provides the title and confirms the signature as Churakova (likely to be Maria Churakova, 1924-1982). Maria Churakova designed books for various publishing houses and created engravings on Russian folklore themes.

Framing: Mounted and Framed with conservation standard board and a reconditioned dark brown wooden frame, which shows some wear, but is in good condition and ready to hang.
