Vine Lane – James Bostock

James Bostock
Date: 1950s
Edition Number: Unknown
Signature: Signed and titled in pencil, by the artist.

Price includes UK shipping.

In the late 1930s James Bostock studied as a post-graduate at the Royal College of Art. He was fortunate to have Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, Paul and John Nash as his tutors. It was this study that led Bostock to become attracted to printmaking, and especially wood engraving. He was awarded RCA certificates in etching, wood engraving and lithography, and the ARCA diploma.

His skill undoubtably shows through in this later wood engraving from the 1950s. There were two editions of Vine Lane, the second edition a print run of 30. As this print is signed but not numbered, it could be an artists’ proof copy or an earlier print.

Artwork Condition: Very good condition
Framing: Framed with conservation standard mount-board, in a modern black painted frame. The frame has some wear, but is in good condition and ready to hang.
