If you need some classic 40’s kitsch, you’ve come to the right page. This print is one of a series of illustrators proof sample book cover sheets. Artists in the series include G. M. Holt, Gwyneth Alban and B. Butler. We don’t know who produced this image.
Out of interest, Gwyneth Alban Davis, was a resident at Cylinders (Lake District) between 1946-50, where she founded her own, one woman printmaking business; The Caravan Press. Gwyneth was part of a creative community which involved the artist Kurt Schwitters and Hilde Goldsmidt.
The Cheery Days book was published by Renwick of Otley (1 Jan. 1940) and written by Lilian Alice Scott, K Laverty, Lilian Alice Scott and Vera Batley.
The print is in good condition with just some light marks and scuffs.
